It seemed like we were heading down a 'sundae' kind of theme here. Just...make sure I have a set of clean sheets to change into before I get back. Sleeping in the pool of come is one thing. Sleeping in the pool of chocolate is another.
I will make sure they're prepped and ready. Because, yeah, there's the good kind of sticky and the sticky that's briefly fun, but not so much an hour or two later.
[With his clothes still on, but the grill heated up, because he wasn't joking about thinking maybe they should eat first. and, unless Alex forgets about asking about the rules, he might end up saying important but terrifying things. more terrifying than the thing he kinda already just dropped in there. not like it's the first time he's said that, but the first time in like...four or five years, so.]
Alex hadn't wanted to hurt Bass that first time he'd come to Roswell. After all, he'd been nursing a recently broken heart and he wasn't sure he was up for anything more than friends. Friends with something that had rapidly turned into benefits, surprising nobody, but friends. But he and Bass hadn't lost touch after Bass went back to California. Instead, they kept talking, and he was like a breath of... Not normalcy, really. Stability. Someone he could just talk to when he'd had a bad day.
And now he was back. The last time, he hadn't wanted Bass to leave, but Alex had known he should. For the safety of Bass's heart if nothing else. He wasn't sure if anything had changed. Wasn't sure whether anything had changed, but the sense that he should gently push Bass away for his own safety was gone.
If anything, it was the opposite. He wanted Bass to stay and was now actively trying to convince him to stay just a few days longer. He'd forgotten - or maybe had made himself forget - just how happy he was when he was with Bass.
So by the time he got back, he had enough food to restock the fridge plus the few extras they'd been discussing.
"I have enough food to feed an army," he called when he came in with the first of the bags. "Come help."
Bass had either been too protective of his heart, refusing to let most people in, or not nearly enough--giving all of it and himself without holding anything back. That meant, basically, he'd loved rarely, and he didn't really get over it. He hadn't gotten over Alex, even though he'd felt certain that them parting was the best thing for Alex. He hadn't wanted to let go, though, and now...now he was trying hard to not push for too much too fast. They'd both been through a lot the past couple of years, both had wounds that weren't totally healed--mental, emotional, physical, all three.
But he liked to think they were healing, and he moved quickly to meet Alex as he came in, taking a couple of the bags.
"I think we're gonna be well-provisioned for a while, with all this."
