Michael's grin grew, and he chuckled. "Not planning on giving you any reasons. Or letting anyone come between us tonight, for that matter."
He was practically giddy with the fact that he had convinced Alex to come out to something so frivolous. It wasn't something that Michael usually did--and certainly never with someone--but he was excited. He was also pretty sure he'd rarely shown up somewhere with the person he intended on leaving with, so that felt fresh, too.
"How are you planning on fitting in sloth? 'Cause that's a bit hard to do at a rave..."
Less hard to do the morning after, though, but he was curious to see what Alex would say.
“I’m going to fall asleep at some point,” he answered, echoing Michael’s thoughts. “And I’m not planning on any kind of early morning.” He’d had too many of those over the last…ten years. Since he was taking the night off, he was definitely also planning on taking the morning off. And maybe early afternoon.
“Of course, to take full advantage of sloth, I’m going to have to be active - very active - tonight, so that my body ignores the fact that I’m usually up by six.”
Not that he was worried. He was pretty sure any activities that Michael had planned for the evening would end up exhausting him. And if Michael didn’t have them planned, then Alex would make absolutely sure they were in on the rotation.
"Ahh, I see. So, you're planning to laze away in bed tomorrow morning, if you're active enough tonight?" He gave him a teasing look. "I dunno. I'm pretty sure 'sloth' isn't rest and recovery so much as lazing around without being properly exhausted..."
He knew his Bible, courtesy of his last foster parents who'd drilled it into them, though the way they'd done so hadn't really impressed Michael with the virtues of their religion. Didn't help that his mere existence disproved some of their beliefs--the Bible didn't really take into account other worlds with non-human people on them, after all.
"But...I'll allow it as an example, just so you can check one off your list. I don't think your being actually slothful would be a whole lot of fun tonight."
Not for the rave, or for after, and where Michael definitely hoped the night was headed.
“If I planned on sleeping the normal amount for the amount of exertion, then you might be right. But I plan on sleeping in and for me, that is sloth.”
Alex couldn’t remember the last time he’d actually slept in. He had the opportunity to on the weekend, but he never seemed to take it. He was always up early, either doing some errand or other or doing something for his father. But this? Spending time with Michael and then falling asleep with him? He planned to spend as much time in that bed as he could, even if it was just sleeping.
He did grin when Michael said that slothful wouldn’t be fun tonight.
“Have some plans for how the night’s going to go, then?”
"Fair point." Michael didn't generally laze in bed, either. The junk yard opened early, and he stayed up late in his lab. Sleep was what you did because it was necessary, not somewhere he'd ever wanted to linger, really, except when he woke up to Alex there, on those rare occasions he got to do so.
Knowing it was the plan, an actual plan rather than something that just happened because it was too late to go home or whatever excuse, made him grin back at Alex a little more brightly than he'd smiled in a while. Admittedly, that grin took on a bit of a wicked edge at the question.
"I've got some ideas, yeah. Just what they might be depends on how things go at the party..."
Whether Alex will actually take anything, how it affects them if he does, how long they stay, how possessive either of them gets. He's thought this through from several angles - all of them end very well in his head, but there are some definitely different ways it could go.
Alex could help himself. "Mo-om. Are we there, yet?" The words might have had the whine of a teenaged girl, but the look he shot Michael was scorching. He needed to get out of this car and press himself against Michael. He'd say kiss him, but he felt more like devouring Michael's mouth. And then torturing them both until one of them - both of them - couldn't take it anymore.
His eyes said all that and: Hurry.
Because normally he could keep himself under control, but this was them specifically going to a place with the intent to touch and seduce and just have a night off from the drama that was their regular lives.
He needed to be there so he could touch because if his hand went back to Michael's thigh now, he wouldn't be able to stop himself.
Michael's mouth went dry at that look from Alex, and he felt it all the way down to his cock. He wasn't sure he'd ever seen Alex look at him quite like that, not so openly, not without any hesitation. He swallowed, feeling the heat rising, and had to pull his gaze back to the road before he drove them off the road.
"Almost..."
He might've sped up, but he made it in just a couple of more minutes, parking on the street in the warehouse district, a little bit down from the warehouse where the party is clearly started.
"This is it..." Though now he was wondering if they're even going to make it across the street. Except just blowing off things to have admittedly amazing sex was what they always did, and the dancing, touching, seducing, out in the open, together, was something new, and he wanted that, too.
Alex stretched a bit once he got out of the car. He’d be spending a good portion of the evening on his feet, which would stress his leg, but he’d also be leaning against Michael for most of it, so it wouldn’t be as bad as if he were having to keep his own balance. Once he had most of the kinks worked out, he made his way over to Michael.
To be fair, as soon as he saw Michael he had his doubts. Not, for once, about anything that might possibly change the course of their lives. Just about whether he wanted to devour Michsel right here and now.
“Come on,” he forced himself to say, though he didn’t turn away and instead watched Michael with those same hungry eyes he’d had in the car. Did he really want to share this man, even if the people were just looking at him?
Michael watched him stretch, leaning against the truck, just enjoying being able to look at him, even while he was doing something so very pragmatic. But his smile flashed when Alex joined him, before fading at how that look remained in Alex's eyes.
His jeans were tight already, and he knew, now, for certain, no one had ever looked at him like that.
They weren't teenagers anymore, though, and surely they had some control (despite what appearances would seem to suggest), and, dammit, they were supposed to be having a normal night doing normal, human, 20-something things (which included sex, his brain helpfully supplied). His breath stuttered a little, even as he pushed off the car, and reached to twine his fingers through Alex's and resolutely turned them toward the warehouse entrance.
"I don't think you have to worry about anyone trying to come between us, if you keep looking at me like that," he murmured with a bit of a grin, even as he focused on just getting inside. Once they had, they could score something, hit the dance floor, and when everything got too intense, he had no doubt there would be plenty of dark corners into which they could disappear for a while.
Alex couldn't help it. He leaned against Michael and whispered in his ear, "I never look away." Because it was as true for him as it apparently was for Michael. Michael was always there, if not in his actual vision, in his thoughts, in the periphery. Sometimes Alex thought that all he'd have to do was turn his head and he'd see Michael. And sometimes that really was all he had to do. Glance over and there he was.
Being here, now, it was almost impossible to believe that he'd managed to be without Michael for ten years. To never see him, never talk to him, never be around him. He'd never managed to forget Michael, but Alex had made an effort not to keep him at the forefront of his thoughts. Of course, he'd also never really tried to date much.
This was his night to let go. To just give in to all of it for a single night and have the thing he'd wanted since he was eighteen.
And yeah, that absolutely included the kind of prolonged teasing that would come from the night. Because the only prolonged thing that they'd ever managed was this twisted and unusual courtship. They needed a chance to breathe.
Michael shivered at having his words repeated back to him, and wanted to believe, desperately, that they were true. But it had been a lonely ten years when he hadn't really felt Alex was there, or looking, at all. That, however, was not at all what he wanted to focus on right now. Tonight was for fun. Tonight was for seizing the chance to have something they'd never had. To not be what they'd gotten locked in to being, and be, instead, what they could have been, at least for one night.
So, he lets the good feeling stay and build, grinning at Alex and winding his fingers through his, tugging him toward the warehouse.
It's dark inside, save for the black lights and the neon paint lighting up on bodies all around them, as well as jars of it set up with artists around the periphery. The music's pounding, and Michael flashes Alex another grin, leaning in.
"I hope you're not actually fond of that shirt. Because we need some of that paint."
After they scored something to help increase the psychedelic experience.
"I think I'm okay with losing one shirt," Alex deadpanned even as his fingers dipped into one of the jars of paint as they walked by. After they were past that particular booth, he planted his feet and tightened his grip on Michael until Michael turned toward him. That was when he reached up and slid his paint-covered fingers right across Michael's cheek. He finished by wiping his fingers deliberately across Michael's chest.
He smirked, a deliberate challenge. He hadn't come here to be any kind of a wallflower. He'd said he was coming and that meant he was in. For all of it. Even if it was something he might regret later.
In the here and now, things were good and he knew exactly what was coming.
Michael stopped when urged, then laughed in surprise as Alex dragged paint across his cheek, then his shirt.
He arched an eyebrow at Alex. "...Okay. I was thinking something a bit more deliberate than smears of paint, but..." It wasn't like he actually minded, especially not when Alex was smirking and looking at him like that.
"But now that my shirt is ruined..." He tugged it off, because a paint-smeared shirt wasn't really what he was going for here. Looking around, he tossed it in a trashcan that already had a few others in there. He eyed Alex's shirt and wrapped his fingers in it, gently pulling him close. "This should go, too."
