Define 'things' because if you mean clothes, a toothbrush, those kinds of 'things', he has enough here to last until he can make a sober decision.

He's high, and I'm assuming they gave him more painkillers, which means he's not going to be terribly sober for a while. You don't know what to watch out for.

And that's the problem: you have to ask. Which leaves me in the position of either telling you things he may or may not be ready for you to know, the things we don't say aloud, ever, not even to each other, or putting him at risk. So him, at home, where I can help you watch him is the best compromise I can think of that doesn't risk his body or heart.

So what you're not saying is that I should keep the drugs in the gun safe so he doesn't take more than he should.

[At least the kid's figured that one out, which is something of a relief, because Bass generally refuses to acknowledge that. Given that, and the concern that Bass might really not come home for a bit, Miles figures what the fuck. Maybe Bass'll be more pissed, but Miles would rather he be safe. And if Alex is gonna run, better he do it now before Bass gets even more attached.]

That's a good start, yeah. Given the mood he was in and that he's already gone out and gotten himself stabbed, I'd say it's probably a good plan to put anything with sharp edges in there, too. The morphine tends to make him happy enough, but the mood swings get worse on oxy.

If he gets agitated, just reassure him. Nightmares are likely while he’s still on the drugs; he may wake up screaming. Hold him; he may be willing to talk about it, but most likely not, unless he’s still high.

[Only common sense if you know Bass's issues, which Miles isn't sure how much Alex knows or has realized. Bass is generally good at hiding it.]

Great. Look. I know you're capable of handling whatever happens. Just...not a lot of people have been willing to do so, and then he ends up getting hurt. He's been pretty stable lately. Obviously, he's not so much right now, and you haven't really seen him in the midst of...this, before. I'm just...not used to anyone else being willing to shoulder that and make sure he comes out of it okay. That's been on me since we were kids, and experience has not lent itself to my trusting other people with that. So, if I seem to be stating the obvious, that's why.
